Hair Salon Olaplex Merida
When Marielle was set to graduate from Architecture College this year, she wanted a fun new look. After years of toiling away, she felt like this new chapter in her life would bring new opportunities, new challenges, and new adventures. Furthermore, her hair needed to reflect this new chapter in her life.
The girl wanted pink hair, with a darker purple shadow root. However, Pink hair, or any Fashion/Vivid Hair Color requires not only expert application, but also quite a bit of maintenance. Vivid Hair colors, while being fashionable and attention-grabbing, are not for the faint of heart.
Factors to Consider
Here are some of the factors Marielle had to consider before making the plunge.
- Vivid Hair colors require cool water when shampooing/showering. Warm or Hot water will cause the color to wash out and prematurely fade.
- If you want your new hair color to last, you must use only Sulfate-free products. Most importantly is Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.
- Your pillow cases and towels, especially when your color is brand new, will have color transference from your hair. (Try to use the same color towels and pillow cases as your hair color. Pink hair would require pink pillowcases and pink towels)
- If you have light colored grout in your bathroom, there is a good chance this may stain, especially with more intense vivid hair such as purple or blue.
- Your vivid hair color likely will not last more than 4 weeks even with the best of care and attention. Be prepared to retouch your vivid hair more frequently than a standard hair color.
The Process
Since Marielle is a friend of Robert Abuda Salon, the entire team (ANGIE, ANNIE, LAURA, & MARIFER) jumped at the challenge. It was our graduation gift to her. After we pre-lightened her hair, our team applied PRAVANA’S VIVID LOCKED-IN Violet at the root, and then PRAVANA’S VIVID LOCKED-IN Pink to the mid-shafts and ends. Developer is not used in any VIVID color, but we added OLAPLEX to both colors to prevent damage to the hair, and to fortify the color in the hair so we get the longest lasting hair color possible.
After processing, we applied OLAPLEX No. 2 for 10 minutes, dried and styled. Below is the result.
As we said before, you likely cannot expect more than 4 weeks for your VIVID color to last before you need a re-application. True to form, after 4 weeks Marielle came in for a re-touch to our Olaplex Hair Salon Merida. Here the team also added slices of coral in the pink for contrast and dimension. The result is stunning.
